The Making of an Icon: Walter Iooss and Sports Photography

The exhibition, “The Making of an Icon: Walter Iooss and Sports Photography” at the Housatonic Museum of Art showcases a selection of artworks by the famed American photographer, Walter Iooss. The exhibition is organized into nine thematic sections that explore the various ways that photographs capture heroic moments, contribute to legendary myths of greatness, and tell authentic stories of athletic struggle and uplift.

The exhibition is curated by Kathryn Leann Harris and Douglas Stark of Interpreting Sports with key loans from the Collection of the Lyman Allyn Art Museum, New London, Connecticut. Support provided by CT Humanities.
