The Housatonic Museum of Art is proud to announce the opening of a new exhibit, Lost Man Blues: Jon Schueler – Art and War, curated by Marissa Roth. The show will feature twenty-six paintings and selected writings by the esteemed prolific American abstract expressionist that reflect his war experiences.
A new, dynamic interlacing sculpture by South Korean artist, Jong-il Ma floats above the entrance to the Burt Chernow Galleries. The major piece, presented by the Housatonic Museum of Art,is an intricate arrangement of stained wood, offering a lesson in balance and flow.
Of Woman Born looks at work from the collection by and about women that calls attention to women’s issues of identity,
sexuality, objectification, reproductive rights, politics and history.
A meditation on modern physics and human relationships, the exhibition features a series of works by contemporary Taiwanese American painter, Eric Chiang, including the large-scale triptych, Are We Born Connected?
]The HMA Student Docent program activates learning and connects students to art, architecture and local history. Partnering with teachers and students since 2000, the HMA Student Docent program builds critical and creative thinking skills and fosters communication and leadership.
Conservation is a core responsibility of the Housatonic Museum of Art and an important part of the Museum's mission.
