Burt Chernow Galleries Are Closed For Installation

Please note that the Burt Chernow Galleries are closed for installation from August 7 - September 13. We are busy taking down the artwork from the last show and getting everything ready for our next one!

Save the date for our next exhibition opening on Wednesday, September 13 from 3:30pm - 6:30pm. We'll be celebrating the opening of "Hidden Gems from the Housatonic Museum of Art. This is a drop-in event with mini-tours on the hour at 4pm, 5pm, and 6pm. The event is free and open to the public; refreshments will be served!

And don't forget that art is always on view at the Housatonic Museum of Art, even though our main gallery is closed. Come by and enjoy installations on abstraction, Op Art, and Native American art. We also have curated displays of artwork made by Alice Baber and John Taylor Arms.

The Practice of Democracy: A View From Connecticut

This exhibition examines how justice, equality and power appear in our built environment – our cities and neighborhoods, the places we call home.

Jongil Ma: Be There When You Return

A new, dynamic interlacing sculpture by South Korean artist, Jong-il Ma floats above the entrance to the Burt Chernow Galleries. The major piece, presented by the Housatonic Museum of Art,is an intricate arrangement of stained wood, offering a lesson in balance and flow.

The Bridgeport Portrait Project

The Bridgeport Portrait Project is a cultural heritage project that combines documentary-style photography and storytelling. It is a little bit current events mixed with a little history.
